Going to San Jose Cable System, Inc.

July 14, 2011. We had our free time in afternoon so we decided to go to San Jose Cable, to acquire some data regarding our thesis especially in the equipment, costs of installation, and some advice. Unfortunately, the engineer was not there to accommodate our interview. We leave a letter and we agreed to come back when the schedule is settled. We gave a contact number so that they can notify us.

UNPLAN

Last Thursday, P.I. group went to Pampanga to gather information. It may not be 100% successful but still it feels good that we accomplish something.
Thus, for this week, we planned to finish the introduction, company logo and tagline, and to conduct a house-to-house survey.

But as a student, our schedule is very tight (wow:0), we only got one free day to work for the thesis esp. on survey. And that is Thursday, although sometimes when there’s a free time, we take the chance to do what we can.

Wednesday night, after the class, we already went to Vijay’s house to make questionnaire. Even though we’re all tired due to a whole day class (imagine an 8:00am-8:00m class), we still able to do it. Power of teamwork :D

Thursday morning we went to Pampanga. Our goal is to execute a house-to-house survey. Yes, questionnaires are done but not ready. Why? Because there’s still no hard copy L. So, along the way, we look for a computer shop to have a print-out copy of the survey form. I don’t know why but computer shops on Pampanga are not that boom. No hard copy, no survey. Fortunately, before conducting a survey, you need to get a mayor’s permit at the municipal office. So, we went to the municipal office of Arayat first. The secretary asked if what are the barangays we’re targeting for the survey. We we’re surprised by her question because we never talk about it. Instead of answering her question, we ask her too if what’s the top 3 best barangay on Arayat. And she suggested Cacutud, Poblacion and Mesulo and finally gave us permit.

Next station is Candaba, but the mayor is not there. His secretary advised us to come back after two hours.
While eating, we realized that this is not the right time to conduct a survey. We didn’t expect getting permit eats a lot of time.

After lunch, we went to PELCO 1 to pass the letter and went straight to Sta. Ana municipal office. Like what happened on Candaba, they also asked us to come back after two hours because their mayor is not there as well (maybe, he is with mr. mayor of candaba).

So as they say, we came back to Candaba and Sta. Ana but unfortunately, both mayors didn’t came.

Ready to ROLL

The date is set. And today is the day. So, as we planned, we went to Pampanga to gather some information.

Our first destination is Arayat. It is bounded on the east by Cabiao, Province of Nueva Ecija. And the Municipal Office is just situated alongside the road. Me, Elmar and Aldwin were assigned to do the task here. We first went to the information desk to inquire where we can get the information needed and they directed us on the Municipal Planning and Developing Office. There, we met Mrs. Mercita Puno and Engr. Josephine Ramos and they accommodated us nicely. Because some materials we need are not available at their office, Engr. Ramos suggested that we better visit Pampanga 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PELCO) for the pole map. But before we left their office, Mrs. Puno asked for picture taking so we can tag her on Facebook (haha). So we move on to PELCO 1 located at Sto. Domingo. At PELCO 1 we met Mr. Engineer (we don’t know his name) and he says that we need a letter sign by their general manager to get any materials from them. And he gave us a brief discussion and suggestion which we can use on our thesis. Thanks sir!

On the other hand, Vijay, Ariston and Ben Mark went straight to Candaba to do the same.  Through text message, we update each other for any progress on our task. According to them, people at Candaba are all approachable and nice that’s why they finish their task quickly. The same story goes on Sta. Ana.  And they fetch us on PELCO 1. The end

By the way, our company name is ACS cable network. And A stands for Arayat, C for Candaba and S for Sta. Ana (obvious why). So, whoever has a talent on making a logo, you are very much welcome. Please make us one, coz we're still working on it. tnx:D

PLANNING

Last meeting, we decided to take the 3 municipalities of Pampanga as our project area. But we have no idea what to do next. So, we ask those who had already made a thesis about Community Antenna Television (CATV) design. And they suggested to visit those municipalities first to personally acquire some information and materials we will need such as maps and municipal profile.

Now that we have ideas for the next step. Therefore, it's time to rock and roll. We conducted another meeting to settle the date on visiting Pampanga, distribute the task, and talk about the company profile and our group name.

Unfortunately, I was assigned to do the journal and Elmar was appoint to do the letter for the municipal office. While the others were asked to do some research about the equipments. The date was set too, it is on June 30, thursday.

Hoping and praying that everything fall into place as we plan it to be.

ALL IS WELL!

PREPARATION

We did our first step on making a thesis by a closed-door meeting (seriously). Ariston Alcantara, our group leader started the meeting by asking our opinion about the places that we can possibly choose and use. There are 5 options - Aurora (Baler, San Luis & Maria Aurora), Nueva Vizcaya (Quezon, Villa Verde & Solano), Tarlac (no definite municipality), Bulacan (Malolos, Plaridel & Pulilan) and Pampanga (Arayat, Sta. Ana & Candaba). Our first choice is Aurora (so we can unwind and stroll at the same time :D) but considering the time of travel and the free time we have, visiting Aurora is impossible. So, we eliminate Aurora as well as Nueva Vizcaya for the same reason. So, we only have 3 options. At the end of the meeting, we decided to go for Pampanga because its not that far and Vijay Sohal and Elmar Jordan know the place.
Now, we had the place, the question is what's the next step?
